St. Joseph's Hospital Using Pickleball To Bring Health Awareness

The event takes place on Aug. 24.

JERICHO, NY — Pickleball has been around for decades, but the sport has blown up in recent years.

Catholic Health St. Joseph's Hospital in Bethpage is combining the activity with health screenings.

The Aug. 24 event at the Pickle Club will teach nuances of pickleball from medical professionals.

The three indoor, air-conditioned courts will each feature certified instructors.

Those in attendance will also have the opportunity for some medical knowledge from footwear tips to dietary tips. Blood pressure screenings are also being provided.

A $20 refundable fee to required. There are two pickleball sessions to choose from: 4:30-5:30 p.m. and 5:30-6:30 p.m.
