Student Artists Give Back

Middle School Students Leave Behind Mural for School

Students in grades 5-8 at Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District’s H.B. Mattlin Middle School (MMS) recently completed the inaugural “Give Back project.” Over the course of the year, the students worked with art teacher Melissa Goscinski to develop a project that would allow each student to use their talents and create a piece that will remain at the school long after the students move on to high school. The students all contributed to a mural for the school walls, inspired by the work of artist Keith Haring that describes life as a MMS student. The students hope this project will become an annual tradition for future students at the close of each school year.
