Turkey Flocks Run Together

POBMS PTA Hosts First Annual Turkey Trot

PLAINVIEW, NEW YORK — Recently, Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School (POBMS) hosted its first annual Turkey Trot for the Plainview-Old Bethpage community. Over 170 participants were in attendance at the middle school track, organized by the POBMS PTA.

Participants could join in person or virtually from any location, and they could select distances between one to three miles to complete. All those who registered received a golden turkey medallion, and those who purchased swag bags with their tickets got their very own POB-themed apparel.

“We are always happy to get our students, parents and teachers together again for exciting activities,” said Dr. Alice Bowman, principal of POBMS. “This is a great way to get our students moving and having fun together in a safe environment.”

Local businesses, Sandwich Express Plainview and CarJoy, sponsored the event. The Turkey Trot raised over $2,500 in total; and businesses Club Pilates, Incredible Feets and Francesco’s Pizzeria generously donated raffle prizes for the winners.

“We hope to see the Turkey Trot become an annual POB Thanksgiving tradition for students, parents and staff,” said Stacey Wallenstein, president of the POBMS PTA. “It is a fun and healthy family activity that raises money for supporting our students."
