Uniondale Runs to Victory at Plainview's Homecoming

Knights win, 26-7, on an otherwise perfect afternoon.

Uniondale used its star running back and a stingy defense to defeat Plainview JFK, 26-7, at Plainview's homecoming game Saturday afternoon.

It was an otherwise-perfect autumn afternoon, complete with a pre-game parade, cheer-leading exhibitions and a rousing halftime performance by Plainview's marching band. Senior cheerleaders, dance team members and football players were honored in pre-game ceremonies and joined on the field by their parents. The Plainview Mixed Choir performed "God Bless America" before the coin toss.

A standing-room only crowd of an estimated 500 people witnessed the game under perfect blue skies and in light-jacket weather. The smell of hot dogs and popcorn filled the air.
