Police ID Woman Fatally Struck By Car In Nassau

Police identified the woman who was killed while she was attempting to cross the street in Nassau.

PLAINVIEW, NY — UPDATE, July 12, 2:55 p.m.: Annette Katz, 80, of Naples, Florida, was the woman who was killed when she was struck by a car in Plainview while trying to cross the street, Nassau police said.

ORIGINAL STORY: A woman was killed in Plainview while she was attempting to cross the street Thursday evening, the Nassau Homicide Squad said.

The woman, who was 80 years old, was crossing southbound on Old Country Road against traffic when she was struck by a 2017 Hyundai, which was traveling westbound, at 5:04, detectives said. She was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County AMT.

The car's driver, a 66-year-old man, remained at the scene and was not injured. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
