PLEASANTVILLE, NY — After a car crash at a Metro-North station, the evening commute took a backseat to an emergency response.

A car crashed through a fence at Metro-North's Pleasantville Station on Thursday afternoon and fell onto the tracks, damaging a section of third rail and delaying Harlem Line service, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Department told Patch.

MTAPD said Thursday's accident happened at 1:34 p.m., on the Track 2 side of the station parking lot.

A preliminary investigation, and review of video, show the incident appears to have been accidental, according to MTAPD. No other cars were involved, and no other injuries were reported.

The two people in the vehicle were taken to Westchester Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The agency said the investigation is ongoing.

Metro-North said the vehicle was removed from the tracks around 3 p.m.

While crews repaired the damaged third rail on Track 2, Harlem Line riders saw delays of 10 to 15 minutes and one cancellation, according to Metro-North. Those repairs were completed at 3:51 p.m.
