2 Standing Next To Their Car After Fender-Bender Hit By Semi And Killed On I-95

PORT CHESTER, NY — Authorities have identified the two people who died after they were struck by a semi on the New England Thruway in Westchester County.

On Sunday, at around 8:30 p.m., New York State Police in New Rochelle responded to a tractor-trailer versus pedestrian collision near mile marker 14.2 southbound, on Interstate 95 in the Village of Port Chester.

Investigators said 72-year-old Kamla K. Singh, and 40-year-old Andrew Sookdeo, both of Richmond Hill, Queens, were standing outside their vehicle following a fender-bender when they were struck by a tractor-trailer traveling in the right lane.

Singh and Sookdeo were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The truck driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to NYSP. At this time, no charges are anticipated, police said.
