Family Services CFO Named One of Westchester's Best
The Port Chester-based nonprofit runs more than 50 social service and mental health programs in the county.

PORT CHESTER, NY - From Family Services of Westchester: Family Services of Westchester (FSW) Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Geoffrey Barsky was named one of Westchester County’s top CFOs by the Westchester County Business Journal and RSM, a network of audit, tax, and consulting experts. The annual award, which honors the best financial decision-makers working in Westchester County, will be presented at an awards celebration on October 10, at The Briarcliff Manor in Briarcliff, NY.
Barsky, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Economics from Queens College, has over 30 years of experience as a financial professional. He joined FSW in 2007, after serving as controller for several companies, including Hilton Hotels Corp. and Katz Digital Technologies, Inc., where he was instrumental in helping the company grow from $2 million in revenue to over $50 million.
“Geoff’s leadership was instrumental in helping FSW successfully survive difficult economic times,” said President and CEO Susan B. Wayne, noting that Barsky joined the organization at the height of the economic recession, when the social services industry was facing an increased demand for services amid dwindling government and private funding. “Thanks in a large part to Geoff’s leadership we were able carry on during tough times and continue to help thousands of Westchester residents who rely on our services.”

FSW’s budget increased from $16.5 million when Barsky joined to over $22 million today. In 2012 the organization embarked on a major capital campaign and building project. Barsky’s oversight helped guide FSW through this exciting growth period, which included the opening of the Lanza Center for All Ages in 2015. The Center, located in White Plains, provides a place for children, teens, and adults to meet and participate in recreational and educational activities.
As a key member of FSW’s executive staff, Barsky has helped plan FSW’s strategic direction, including the Center for All Ages capital campaign. While that campaign helped create a new program space, Barsky is also responsible for ensuring the long-term financial health of the organization’s existing facilities, which include youth and senior residences and seven mental health clinics located throughout Westchester. He and his team provide accurate, timely fiscal information and reliable day-to- day budgeting for more than 50 programs while ensuring the long-term forecasting, compliance, cash flow, and risk management oversight for an organization that includes 450 staff members and close to 500 volunteers.
