Firefighter Saves Boy's Life in Port Chester: Report

The off-duty firefighter jumped into action to save the boy's life after he went into cardiac and respiratory arrest.

PORT CHESTER, NY — An off-duty Greenwich firefighter is being credited with saving a young boy's life after he went into respiratory and cardiac arrest.

Firefighter Matthew Gordiski was driving through Port Chester, NY in late March when he saw some commotion near Willet Avenue and North Main Street, according to the Greenwich Time.

He ran across the street to the scene and discovered that a four-year-old boy had gotten his neck caught in a vehicle sunroof and lost consciousness.
