LEGO Sandcastles; Shakespeare; Senior Advising


  • At Port Chester –Rye Brook Public Library today is the Seniors Benefits Information Center. Individuals, who are 55 and older or family members of those who are that age, are welcome to stop by between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Counselors will assist the individuals navigate what benefits they are eligible for. No appointment is necessary, and the free assistance is offered in English and Spanish. The meetings will take place in the Wein Meeting Room on the second floor. Make sure to bring your medicare card as well as any other insurance card you may have. Call 914-269-7131 for more information.

 

  • The LEGOLAND Discovery Center Westchester heads to the beach today for sun, fun and LEGO Sandcastles. This special free class will be offered on the boardwalk of Rye Playland Beach, and will be led by master model builder David Howard. The event will run from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Participating children will build a LEGO sandcastle and get tips on creating with lego bricks. The event is appropriate for children ages 5 through 10, and must be accompanied by an adult or teen supervisor.

 

  • Go see William Shakespeare’s, “The Taming of the Shrew,” tonight from 5:45 p.m. to 8 p.m. at either Lyon Park in Port Chester or Pine Ridge Park in Rye Brook. The free plays are presented by Lawn Chair Theater. Visit www.lawnchairtheatre.org for more information.
