Port Chester High School Inducts 52 Students into National Honor Societies
The ceremony took place Wednesday afternoon.

PORT CHESTER, NY - Port Chester High School inducted 52 juniors and seniors into three national honor societies Wednesday: the National Honor Society—Mu Alpha Theta—the National High School Mathematics Honor Society and the Science National Honor Society.
According to information provided by the school, the ceremony featured remarks by Dr. Edward Kliszus, Superintendent of Schools, Robert Johnson, Board of Education President, and Dr. Mitchell Combs, PCHS Principal. The students and parents also heard from National Honor Society Advisor Estrella Marziani, Math Advisor Alex Lepes, and Science Advisor Maria Recchia.

Dr. Combs presented James Repaci with the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Medal, which recognizes superlative academic achievement and brings with it a minimum $25,000 per year scholarship to that distinguished university. He also awarded the George Washington University Medal to Emily Loiaconi. This medal is awarded to the Port Chester High School junior who has achieved the highest cumulative grades in the fields of mathematics and science of his/her secondary school years.
To be invited to the National Honor Society, students must have achieved a minimum grade average of 85 percent and demonstrate character, leadership and service. National Honor Society is the nation’s leading organization that recognizes outstanding high school students.

For membership in Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society, students must have an 85 average in all three Regents level courses—Integrated Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra 2 and Trigonometry -- as well as on their respective Regents exams.
For membership in the Science National Honor Society, students must have completed three years of science at the Regents level or higher, with a combined average of at least 85 percent in science courses and on Regents exams.
