Port Chester High School Sr. Danielle Winchester Named to All-State Mixed Chorus

High school juniors and seniors from across New York State are selected for All-State groups through a rigorous audition process.

Port Chester High School senior vocalist Danielle Winchester has been chosen to be a member of the New York All-State Mixed Chorus, the school announced.

High school juniors and seniors from across New York State are selected for All-State groups through a rigorous audition process at the previous spring’s NYSSMA Solo Evaluation Festival. Winchester received a rating of “A+,” with a perfect score of 100, on her required sight-reading and Level Six solo music, “Amarilli,” by Caccini, sung in Italian.

Currently the Drum Major for the “Pride of Port Chester,” the Port Chester High School Marching Band, Danielle had previously been selected for All-County Chorus and Band. Additionally, she is President of the school’s Tri-M Music Honor Society, and most recently was chosen for the Area All-State Women’s Chorus. She sings with the PCHS Concert and Select Choirs, and plays clarinet in the Concert Band. Her school Vocal music teacher is Linda Ventura.

The All-State Mixed Chorus will perform at the New York State Music Association’s (NYSSMA) annual Winter Conference, held in Rochester, on Dec. 6. All-State students attend three days of intensive rehearsal prior to their performance. The conductor for the All-State Mixed Chorus will be Sandra Snow, Choral Director at Michigan State University.
