Port Chester Middle School Seeks Donations For Pet Rescue Of NY
New toys, as well and dog and cat food and treats, are being sought.

PORT CHESTER, NY — The Port Chester Middle School Physical Education Department is partnering with a local pet rescue group this holiday season to provide presents — and other items — for the organization. Pet Rescue of NY, located in Harrison, will be the beneficiary of “Presents for Pets.”
The non-profit organization fosters and adopts out dogs and cats. Many of these animals have been surrendered to the group for various reasons or were brought in from Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico where hurricanes destroyed many shelters in those areas.
The school is seeking to help the group by asking students, staff and the Port Chester community to donate new items, including toys, cans or bags of dog and cat food and dog or cat treats. They are also looking for lightly used towels and blankets.

The program will run through Dec. 21. Anyone can bring donations for the “Presents for Pets” drive to the PCMS main lobby. Before the winter recess, the physical education class with the most donations will win a pizza party.
On Thursday, Dec. 21, Pet Rescue volunteers will visit our school and pick up donations. The Rescue will also bring with them a few adoptable dogs and talk about the benefits of adopting a shelter pet. In addition, the school will announce the results of its schoolwide Cutest Pet Contest.

Pet Rescue is a non-profit animal rescue organization founded in 1982. Pet Rescue is not a formal shelter; rather, it is a small group of volunteers that fosters dogs and cats until they are adopted, according to organizers.
