Port Chester Trustees Meet, Fail to Vote to Reinstate Paid Firefighters

PORT CHESTER, NY - The Village of Port Chester trustees held their first meeting since cutting all paid firefighters out of the community’s budget.
Lohud.com said Trustee Greg Adams wanted a vote to be taken to reinstate the firefighters but there was not enough support for his motion and no vote was taken.
The trustees and Mayor Dennis Pilla were greeted by protesters and booing as they were escorted by the police to their seats, lohud.com said.

Port Chester eliminated the paid fire positions May 2, after which the Village of Rye Brook filed a lawsuit because the villages had an agreement that Port Chester would supply a professional firefighter to man the firehouse during the night.
