Around 5:30 a.m., Sunday, September 11, 2011, Port Chester police responded to a burglary in progress at 235 Mortimer St.

The victim’s then-14-year-old daughter, Nicole Guglielmo, had made the 911 call saying that her father had been stabbed by an intruder, police said.

When EMS and police arrived, Anthony Guglielmo was found on the floor lying in a massive pool of blood. A large butcher knife was on the floor, and he had a stab wound to the chest.

McGhee had lived across the street from the victim and his daughter during 2010 and early 2011.

Over the following two years investigators interviewed and reinterviewed McGhee.

The defendant eventually admitted to climbing in the window of the Guglielmo’s home and stabbing him while he was sleeping, McCarty said.

During his plea appearance, McGhee admitted he acted alone in the homicide.
