Speeding Violation Leads To Drug Charges For Port Chester Man
One of the charges he faces was possession with intent to sell.

PORT CHESTER, NY — A Port Chester man stopped for speeding ended up with felony drug charges. State Police said Cesar A. Velazquez-Tapia, 28, of Port Chester, was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, felonies; driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and a vehicle and traffic violation.
Police said Velazquez-Tapia was stopped around 3:36 a.m. Nov. 4 on I-287 in the Town of Harrison for a speeding violation.
He was found to be impaired by alcohol while in possession of about 2.3 grams of cocaine, police said.

Velazquez-Tapia was taken into custody and processed at the New Rochelle barracks.
He was arraigned in the Town of Harrison Court and released to a sober third party after posting $1,920 bail.

Velazquez-Tapia is schedule to return to court Dec. 5.
