Two Port Chester High School Seniors Named National Merit Scholarship 'Commended Students'
Commended Students this year scored among the top 5 percent of all 1.5 million students who entered the 2015 National Merit competition.

The following announcement is from Port Chester High School:
Emma Manos and John Montemurro, both Port Chester High School seniors, have been named Commended Students in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program, announced Dr. Mitchell Combs, Port Chester High School Principal.
In presenting the commendations to Emma and John, Dr. Combs expressed his pride in their accomplishment, gratitude for their hard work, and hope for their continued success. The students will be honored at a future Board of Education meeting.

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. High school students enter the program by taking the Preliminary SAT and meeting certain entry requirements. Commended Students this year scored among the top 5 percent of all 1.5 million students who entered the 2015 competition, with selection based on a nationally applied selected index score that can vary from year to year.
“The young men and women being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
