1 Teen Killed, 5 Injured In Port Jefferson Station Crash: Police

The crash took place Saturday night, police said.

PORT JEFFERSON STATION, NY — One teen was killed and five were injured in a crash in Port Jefferson Station Saturday night, police said.

The crash took place at 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Nesconset Highway and Woodhull Avenue, Suffolk County Police said.

Christopher Ospina, 18, of Islandia, was driving a 2019 Honda Accord eastbound on Nesconset Highway when he attempted to make a left turn onto Woodhull Avenue and was struck in the intersection by a westbound 2022 Ford Bronco, police said.

Isaac Ruiz, 16, of Medford, a backseat passenger in the Honda, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the Ford, Taner Ustaoglu, 19, of Miller Place, along with Ospina, plus three other passengers in the Honda, ages 16, 15, and 17, were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

No charges were filed in the crash, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks, police said. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
