2 Injured In Suffolk Shooting, Police Say

The pair were taken to area hospitals where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — Two people were injured in a shooting on Main Street in Port Jefferson on Wednesday night, Suffolk police said.

The shooting took place on the street, near Linden Place, just after 7 p.m., according to police. Both people were taken to area hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The shooting was one of two within a few hours and just miles of each other in eastern Suffolk County.

A 56-year-old man who stabbed two police officers was shot dead in nearby Medford about two hours earlier.
