Comsewogue High School Recognized by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association

Comsewogue High School in the Comsewogue School District was named a 2025-2026 School of Excellence by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, Inc. (NYSPHSAA) for demonstrating exceptional commitment to academic achievement throughout the 2025-2026 school year.

The NYSPHSAA School of Excellence Award unites athletic departments in challenging every Varsity team to achieve statewide academic recognition through the NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete program. Schools are honored if at least 75% of Varsity teams earn Scholar-Athlete Team recognition during their respective sports seasons.

"This honor is a testament to the culture of excellence we strive to cultivate throughout our district," Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jennifer Quinn said. "Our student-athletes demonstrate every day that academic success and athletic achievement go hand in hand. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, determination and commitment to representing Comsewogue with excellence both in the classroom and in competition."

This year, 237 schools across New York State earned the School of Excellence designation, an increase from 221 schools recognized during the 2024-2025 school year.

"The commitment demonstrated by our member schools to academic excellence continues to be one of the greatest strengths of educational-based athletics," said NYSPHSAA Executive Director Dr. Robert Zayas. "These awards recognize entire school communities that value success in the classroom as much as success in competition."

Applications for the School of Excellence Awards are submitted annually by member schools following the conclusion of the spring sports season. Commemorative awards are presented during each Section's Athletic Director Workshop in the fall.
