Comsewogue High School Senior Recognized as a Scholar Athlete by the National Football Foundation

Comsewogue High School students Kylie Smith, Jayla Callendar and Alexandria were honored at the Scholar Athlete/All-County Brunch in June at the Marriott Melville Long Island.

Kylie Smith, a senior at Comsewogue High School in the Comsewogue School District, was recently recognized as a Scholar Athlete by the National Football Foundation Suffolk County Chapter.

One student-athlete from each of the 38 Suffolk County high schools that participate in scholastic flag football is selected annually for this prestigious recognition, which celebrates excellence in academics, athletics and leadership.

In addition, Alexandria Burrell and Jayla Callender were named to the National Football Foundation Suffolk County Chapter All-County Flag Football Team in recognition of their exceptional performance throughout the season.

The Comsewogue athletes were honored at the Scholar Athlete/All-County Brunch in June at the Marriott Melville Long Island.

"We are incredibly proud of Kylie, Alexandria and Jayla for representing Comsewogue with such distinction," said Comsewogue School District Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jennifer Quinn. "Their commitment to academic excellence, athletic achievement and teamwork reflects the values we strive to instill in all of our students. We congratulate them on these well-deserved honors."

The Suffolk County chapter of the National Football Foundation has been recognizing outstanding student-athletes since 1995. During that time, the organization has honored more than 1,000 high school football players for their academic and athletic accomplishments.

Founded nationally in 1947, the National Football Foundation is dedicated to promoting amateur football and recognizing individuals who contribute to the game. The organization includes 120 chapters nationwide and more than 14,000 members.
