Suffolk To Highlight Oysters, Aquaculture Industry, At 'Jamboree And Frolic' In Port Jefferson

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — The second annual Suffolk County Oyster Jamboree and Frolic is set for Saturday, Aug. 15 in Port Jefferson.

The event, which was designed to support Suffolk's growing aquaculture industry, will follow a colonial theme as a part of Suffolk 250 festivities.

Attendees will be able to experience an antique plane flyover, a 125-foot modern replica of a 19th century clipper, the Liberty Clipper, docked in Port Jefferson Harbor, a beer and wine garden, and over a dozen local oyster growers.

Details of the event, which will be held in conjunction with the Long Island Oyster Growers Association, were set to be unveiled Monday by County Executive Ed Romaine in Port Jefferson.
