PORT JEFFERSON, NY — An 83-year-old man was taken to the hospital with a serious injury after a boat crash Saturday night off of Port Jefferson in the Long Island Sound, authorities said.
Marine Bureau officers responded to a crash involving a Grady White and a Metal Shark at around 7:30 p.m., around two miles north of Pirates Cove, according to Suffolk police.
Port Jefferson Emergency Medical Services transported the man, who was one of five involved in the crash, to a local hospital, the Port Jefferson Fire Department said.
His injuries were non-life-threatening, police said.
The investigation into the crash has been closed, according to police.

In addition to the fire department, ambulance company, and police, firefighters from the Mount Sinai and Setauket Fire departments provided mutual aid and helped in securing the scene.
