The mayor and board of Port Jefferson Village have given away the job of Social Media Coordinator to a person without following the Bidding or RFP process all municipalities should follow. Its the wide open spaces here and anything the mayor and board wants, they get. Who is watching the hen house? Perhaps the NY State Comtroller, as happened in 2011 and 2012 when Comtroller Tom DiNapoli sited the Village with not following bidding laws and procedures. The Village, under Mayor Garant had not procured bids for suppliers, vendors and professionals to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Who's watching? Who's caring?
