Bicyclist Seriously Injured In Car Crash In Coram

Police said the cyclist was traveling north on West Yaphank Road on Friday evening when the collision occurred.

CORAM, NY — A bicyclist suffered serious injuries when he was struck by a car in Coram on Friday, Suffolk County police said.

According to police, the 47-year-old man from Coram was riding a bike northbound on West Yaphank Road south of Beach Lane when he was struck by a Hyundai Sonata traveling in the same direction.

The bicyclist was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment, police said. The driver of the Hyundai — a 48-year-old from Coram — was not injured.

The Hyundai was impounded for a safety check, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
