Big bass and blues being caught for past 1.5 weeks out of Port Jeff NY. CAPTAIN FISH OF PORT JEFFERSON has been catching big striped bass in the middle grounds. Try chunking porgies and or bunker around some boulders. middle grounds is the place this time of year because of stable water temps and an abundant food supply. Try the very beginning of the outgoing or incoming tides, the fish seem to feed better at these times. Fish before 8 am or after 5pm, sunlight is not as bright and direct and water temps cool enough to put the fish on the feed. Fish around the stronger moon tides, the tide carries more food and oxygen and tend to increase the feeding of bass and blues.
