Changed by 9/11: Peter Busacca, More Cautious

After 9/11, Busacca says he is more cautious when dealing with people.

Eight years after the attacks of September 11th, Peter Busacca was the president of the Port Jefferson Station/Terryville Civic Association. That year, the civic association used money from a 9/11 fund to purchase a granite memorial to those who lost their lives during the attacks.

"It hits pretty close to home," said Busacca, a lifelong resident of Port Jefferson Station, which is why the civic organization gathered local leaders to the dedication of the memorial on Sept. 11, 2009.

Busacca says that since the attacks, he is much more cautious than he used to be.

"It's made me more cautious of the people I deal with," he said. "I stay away from people who act out and go beyond normal ways."

After years spent working for various companies, his last as a nursing home administrator, Busacca says he's pursuing a dream.
