Earl L. Vandermeulen High School Celebrates Student-Athletes at College Signing Day Ceremony
Earl L. Vandermeulen High School proudly hosted its College Signing Day ceremony honoring four senior student-athletes who have committed to continuing their athletic and academic careers at the collegiate level.
The following students were recognized for their accomplishments and future commitments:
• McKayla Pollard – St. Lawrence University, Women’s Volleyball
• Alexa Jacobs – Villanova University, Women’s Track and Field
• Owen Whiffen – SUNY Oneonta, Men’s Lacrosse
• Rowan Casey – SUNY Geneseo, Men’s Lacrosse

The event celebrated the hard work, dedication, and perseverance these student-athletes have demonstrated throughout their high school careers both in the classroom and in competition. The ceremony was planned and organized by Mrs. Nelson’s Sport Event Management class, whose students coordinated the event setup and logistics, providing a professional and memorable experience for the athletes and their families.
Athletic Director Adam Sherrard opened the ceremony with remarks recognizing the achievements of the student-athletes and the commitment required to compete at the collegiate level. Coaches CJ Hafner, Brian Snow, and Taylor Forstell also shared heartfelt comments about each athlete, highlighting their leadership, character, and contributions to their respective programs.
