Coram Man Found With Loaded Gun During Traffic Stop: Police

Justin Soodhoo, 20,​ had a handgun when he was pulled over in a 2019 Nissan Altima near Grant Smith Road, Suffolk police said.

CORAM, NY — A 20-year-old man was caught with a loaded handgun in his fanny pack during a traffic stop in Coram on Monday night, Suffolk police said.

Police said that at about 6:45 p.m. Justin Soodhoo of Coram had been driving erratically in a 2019 Nissan Altima on Grant Smith Road, and was directed to pull over by 6th Precinct officers Anthony Bretz and Justin Dimatteo. The gun was found on him when the officers approached the car, police said.

Soodhoo was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest, police said. He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in First District Court in Central Islip.
