FISHING PORT JEFFERSON

FISHING PORT JEFFERSON'S local waters can be very exciting. All species have moved into our area. Fluke are abundant but most are below legal limit. Porgies are everywhere, just anchor or drift with clam. Bluefish are out in front of PORT JEFF HARBOR around buoy 9and at Rocky Point, just look for birds. STRIPED BASS are tricky fish so you have to fish stronger moon tides. Bunker or Porgy chunks on fish finder rigs or trolling tubes, umbrella rigs and plugs will do the trick. Fish around ledges and rocky areas with stronger currents nearby. Sunrise, sunset or in the middle of the night is best, so this fish isn't for the lazy or fair weather fisherman.

Start looking in deeper water for all species because the water temps are rising.
