FIZZ BOOM READ! Summer Reading Program Kicks Off Saturday, June 21!

Join us this Saturday, June 21 at 2 PM as the Port Jefferson Free Library kicks off this year's Summer Reading Program, FIZZ, BOOM, READ!, with a live animal show featuring Jason Reilly.  Children from birth to age twelve are eligible to join us as we explore the world of science with crafts, story times, book discussions, explorations, family shows, movies, and much more.

The goal of the Summer Reading Program is to encourage children to read during the summer months, both to prevent skill loss and to foster a love of reading that will last a lifetime.

After the show, you can come up to the Children's Department, which has been transformed into a science lab complete with well-known characters, to register for the Summer Reading Program.

Children entering fifth grade and beyond are welcome to register for the teen's program, SPARK A REACTION, on Saturday as well.  Teens will track the number of hours that they read throughout the summer to be entered into weekly iTunes gift card raffles.

So, plan to join us Saturday and add some FIZZ and SPARK to your summer!
