Anthony Butera, Trustee of the Port Jefferson Village Historical Society, should be lauded for his determination in attempting to save local historic artifacts and buildings, throughout his lifetime in the Village. In my opinion, despite the brash, selfish, arrogant nature he sometimes is up against with mayor Margot Garant, he quietly pursues his goals. The historic house on Sheep Pasture Rd, according to Newsday article June 7, 2019 is destined to be razed by the Port Jefferson mayor despite the fact it is an historic building. The mayor's last comment in the article is "if they want it let them buy it". Is this any way to respond to a life long resident and non profit organization whom only has the desire to preserve our history. Garant has no issue with spending our taxpayer dollars, new signs, flowers, junkets to association meetings by multiple employees. What an outrage and insult.
