JFK Middle School Life Skills Students Bring “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” to Life

The Life Skills Special Education class at JFK Middle School in the Comsewogue School District recently delighted audiences with a heartwarming stage adaptation of Eric Carle's beloved children's classic “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.”

Throughout the school year, students worked diligently to prepare for the production, developing communication skills, building self-confidence and learning the value of teamwork. Their efforts culminated in a memorable performance that showcased both their talents and tremendous growth.

Dressed as characters from the cherished story, students enthusiastically reenacted the caterpillar's journey, from its first crawl in search of food to its remarkable transformation into a beautiful butterfly. Their dedication, creativity and joy captivated classmates, staff members, families and community members in attendance.

“The students' hard work, dedication, and pure joy shone through in every single scene,” said JFK Middle School Principal Dr. Amanda Prinz. “It was a beautiful celebration of growth, inclusion, and creativity that left the entire school and community cheering!”

The performance served as a celebration of inclusion, perseverance and personal achievement, highlighting the meaningful learning experiences taking place within the district's Life Skills program.
