Man Charged In Fatal Port Jefferson Station Hit-And-Run: Police

The man was struck by two vehicles in June, police say. The man who fled after hitting him initially was arrested, police say.

CORAM, NY — A Coram man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a Port Jefferson Station hit-and-run that killed a man in June, Suffolk police said.

Jonathan Wibben, 34, was charged with leaving the scene of an incident involving a fatality, police said. His arraignment was scheduled for Tuesday in Riverhead.

Peter Williams, 47, of Terryville, was crossing Route 112 eastbound, south of Rose Avenue, when he was struck by an SUV driven by Wibben southbound on Route 112 at 10:13 p.m. June 2, 2023, police said. Wibben did not stop, police said. A second vehicle traveling southbound also struck Williams but remained at the scene, police said.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.
