Man Dies After Crashing Lamborghini Into Pole on Long Island

The accident occurred Sunday afternoon in Port Jefferson, police say.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY - A 48-year-old man died Sunday afternoon after crashing his Lamborghini into a utility pole in Port Jefferson, police said.

According to police, Glen Nelson, of Belle Terre, was driving a 2008 Lamborghini Murciélago eastbound on East Broadway at High Street when the car left the roadway and struck a pole at about 3:40 p.m.

Nelson was transported to St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Nelson was the founder and CEO of The Matrix Group, a real estate investment and management company based in Port Jefferson.

The Lamborghini was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
