Man Fails To Rob Suffolk 7-Eleven, Gets Arrested: Police

The man jumped over the counter and tried to steal cash but ran off after the clerk intervened, police say.

CORAM, NY — A man was arrested early Wednesday in connection to an attempted robbery at a Coram convenience store Tuesday night, Suffolk police said.

Elliott Brown, 29, undomiciled, jumped over the counter of 7-Eleven, at 33 Middle Country Road, and tried stealing cash from the register around 11:45 p.m., police said. He ran off after the clerk intervened, police said.

Brown was found across the street hiding behind a dumpster at 12:19 a.m. by Sixth Precinct police officers and K-9 Section officers, police said.

Brown was charged with third-degree attempted robbery. He was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
