Man Robs Pizza Delivery Man Of Cash, Food At Knifepoint: Police
Police say the robber lured the delivery man to a random address and then ambushed him when he arrived with food Saturday night.

PORT JEFFERSON STATION, NY – A 27-year-old man was arrested after he robbed a pizza delivery man at knifepoint Saturday night, Suffolk Police said.
According to police, Ricardo Vargas ordered food from Bella Maria Restaurant and Pizzeria in Coram to be delivered to a home on King Street in Port Jefferson Station.
Vargas selected the delivery address at random and when the 61-year-old delivery man arrived around 9:40 p.m., Vargas, who had been waiting nearby, approached him, displayed a knife and demanded money, police said.

The delivery man complied and Vargas fled on foot with cash and the food, police said.
The delivery man called 911. After searching the area, police located and arrested Vargas on Hewes Street, a block north of King Street, at 11:30 p.m.

Vargas, of Selden, was charged with first degree robbery as well as an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. He was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Sunday.
