Man Tries to Rob Port Jefferson Station Carvel

A man threatened to shoot an employee if she didn't give him money, but she walked away and called 911, police say.

Police are looking for a man who tried to rob a Carvel store in Port Jefferson Station Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the man entered the ice cream shop located at 407 Route 112 around 4:25 p.m. and engaged in conversation with the employee behind the counter.

The man then demanded money. The woman did not comply and the man stated that he would shoot the woman if she did not comply, police said.

The woman walked away and called 911. The man fled the store. No proceeds were taken and no weapon was shown.

The would-be robber is described as Hispanic with a tan complexion, approximately 20-30 years-old. He is 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 with a medium build. He was wearing a dark long sleeve shirt, jeans and a black baseball cap.
