Mather Hospital, Brookhaven Partnering To Offer Free Sunscreen
The initiative, launched at beaches and pools, raises awareness about skin cancer, and the importance of sunscreen in its prevention.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — Mather Hospital is offering free sunscreen at Brookhaven Town beaches and pools to raise awareness about how it can make a difference in the spread of skin cancer, officials announced at a news conference at Cedar Beach in Mount Sinai on Thursday.
Quart-sized dispensers containing SPF 30 sunscreen will be installed, and the program will arrange for health care partners to provide sun protection and skin cancer education and outreach programs at municipal facilities and events, officials said. The program also incorporates an awareness campaign through the town and hospital’s social media platforms, according to a news release.
Mather is also sponsoring sunscreen dispensers at beaches and parks in Port Jefferson to help residents protect themselves from skin cancer, according to the hospital’s Facebook page.
