Motorcyclist In Serious Condition After Being Ejected Off Bike In Port Jefferson Station Crash: Police

PORT JEFFERSON STATION, NY —Detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously hurt a motorcyclist Thursday night, Suffolk police said.

A man was speeding in a 2022 Honda motorcycle westbound on Nesconset Highway, when he tried to bypass traffic by traveling on the right shoulder of the roadway, where his motorcycle struck a 2020 Chevrolet Camaro that was turning right into a parking lot on Nesconset Highway, at around 8 p.m., according to police.

The man, a 19-year-old from Port Jefferson Station, was ejected off of the motorcycle, went over the hood of the Camaro, and struck a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu that was exiting the parking lot to head westbound onto Nesconset Highway, police said.

He was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious
injuries, police said, adding that the driver of the Camaro, a 39-year-old from Port Jefferson, and the driver of the Malibu, a 69-year-old from Coram, were not hurt.
The vehicles were impounded for a safety check.
