Muse Paintbar Uncorks in Port Jefferson

Combining painting instruction with a wine bar, Muse Paintbar is now open at 134 Main Street in Port Jefferson. A relaxing oasis for artists and non-artists of all ages and skill levels, Muse Paintbar is place for friends to learn, laugh, relax and celebrate life’s milestones with skilled painting instructors in a warm and inviting space.

Muse was co-founded by Stan Finch in December 2012 and is run in cooperation with local artists. Now with 23 locations throughout New England, the Mid-Atlantic and the Tri-State area – including three in Long Island, Muse has found painting and wine to be a perfect pairing. “Muse allows us to share our passion and create art in a fun, relaxed atmosphere,” said Finch. “Art can be intimidating, but we break down barriers by providing simple directions that allow people to gain confidence. By the end of the session, they’ve had fun and can take home an original work of art.”

Muse Paintbar is ideal for after-work relaxation, a girls’ night out, a birthday or bachelorette party, corporate team building, or even a first date. Couples’ paintings, where artists will guide you and your special someone through a joint painting and you will take home two canvases to hang side-by-side, also make Muse the perfect spot to celebrate a recent anniversary or a romantic date night. Family art sessions are also offered 2-3 times per month and feature a painting that the whole family can participate in. Muse also offers special ‘Paint Your Pet’ sessions where guests sign-up and send in a photo of their furry friend prior to the session. The Muse artists will have a sketch of each guest’s pet waiting for them when they arrive, ready to be painted.

To participate, guests simply visit musepaintbar.com, select the Port Jefferson location, and scroll through the online calendar to view each evening’s one or two different paintings, and register online. Classes average $35 per person, but prices may vary for weekend sessions, fundraisers, special events or special sessions. The company donates five percent of profits to local causes and partners with local suppliers.

After sign-up, guests simply need to show up for fun. Muse Paintbar provides expert instructors, acrylic paints, a series of brushes and a canvas, and an apron. Guests do not need any artistic background or skill, as instructors guide them stroke by stroke from blank canvas to finished masterpiece, ready to display or gift. While painting, guests can also enjoy a great selection of food, wine and beer.

Muse Paintbar is open to the public and to private parties on a space available basis. Reservations are suggested as sessions sell out quickly.
