Pay for Parking

The administration changed the Port Jefferson Village code to allow new business owners who do not have the space for appropriate parking under the old code, to pay for parking instead. This scheme is flawed if in fact there is no contingency plan for an increase in the event the hypothetical price per space increases based on maintenance or other economic factors. The administration has purchased land on Barnum Ave to relieve the ongoing parking issues through out the Village when in fact it is so close to the new apartment complex on West Broadway, one wonders if it was purchased for the favor of the owners in my opinion. We must be vigilant and cautious regarding the blighted properties uptown and what the mayor and trustees have in mind for new ownership, parking facilities and how they plan to spend more of our money under the guise of "their" Comprehensive plan, not the items and issues favored by the majority of the taxpayers surveyed for the Plan, in my opinion.
