Northwell Walk to Raise Health Set For Port Jefferson On May 17
It will support the Fortunato Breast Health Center which raises breast cancer awareness the importance of mammograms over age 40.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — Mather Hospital will host its annual Northwell Walk to Raise Health at Port Jefferson on May 17 to support the Fortunato Breast Health Center which raises breast cancer awareness the importance of mammograms over age 40.
The five-mile event, which is supported by Four Leaf Federal Credit Union and New York Cancer and Blood Specialists, will encompass Port Jefferson and Belle Terre.
It will include music, raffles, photo props, a walker warm-up session, and the Pink Your Pooch contest for the dog with the best pink outfit.

Check-in for the event will start at 8:30 a.m., and the walk steps off at 10 a.m.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States, except for skin cancers, according to the American Cancer Society. It accounts for about 30 percent, or one in three, of all new female cancers each year.

The average risk of a woman in the country developing breast cancer sometime in her life is about 13 percent, or a one in eight chance.
The event is sponsored by Mario Rivera Honda and Bagel Express Setauket.
