Norwood Avenue Elementary School Holds an Exciting Fire Prevention Day

Terryville Fire Department inspires students and teaches about fire safety

The Terryville Fire Department recently visited Norwood Avenue Elementary School in the Comsewogue School District for an exciting Fire Prevention Day.

"Our students had an exciting and enriching time learning about fire safety and speaking with local firefighters about what they do to keep everyone in their community safe,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jennifer Quinn. “We extend our gratitude to the Terryville Fire Department for sharing their expertise with our students.”

During an interactive assembly, students watched a firefighter get into full uniform. Students were also able to take turns sitting in a firetruck and learning about each of its tools. While inside, they learned about each of the truck’s tools and equipment, gaining insights into the vital resource’s firefighters have at their disposal when responding to emergencies. This practical exposure not only enhanced their understanding of fire safety but also kindled their fascination with the world of firefighting. Top of Form
