On Display at the Port Jefferson Free Library!

As many of the Patch readers and library patrons know, the Port Jefferson Free Library has an extensive collection of books, movies, music, and more. Patrons often come in with a specific agenda. The necessary item is located or requested and then checked out. While the patron may be satisfied, they can miss out on some of the Library’s hidden treasures.

Finding time to wander in the stacks is not always possible, but looking over the Library’s weekly displays is easy! The Adult Reference Department hosts two display tables. One table is across from the Reference Desk close to the DVDs.  The other display is located in the Reading Room and shares the desk with a card catalog computer. Currently that table features materials about the Setauket Spy Ring, the subject of the AMC television show TURN.

The displays are used to highlight themes, personalities, topics, holidays, and special celebrations. Subjects change weekly.Recent topics have included: books about libraries or set in libraries for National Library Week, Poetry for National Poetry Month (April), Mexican Heritage for Cinco de Mayo, Birds, and most recently, Memorial Day. Most displays include a mix of fiction, non-fiction, both regular and large print, as well as audiobooks where applicable.

As always if you need help in locating any of the Library’s resources, please stop by the Reference Desk! The librarian will be happy to help you!
