Parents Say Longwood Teacher Compared Kids To Monkeys: Report
Some parents were upset at a photo caption the teacher used on a picture of students taken at the Bronx Zoo, according to a report.
MIDDLE ISLAND, NY — Some parents of Longwood High School students are upset about a caption a teacher used on a photo of kids taken at the Bronx Zoo on a zoology class field trip, News 12 Long Island reported. Parents told the TV station the caption, "Monkey Do," was insensitive to describe the photo, which appeared to show black students in a single-file line with hands on the shoulders of the person in front of them.
One parent called the caption "very disturbing," according to News 12.
The teacher has been spoken to and the school's superintendent met with parents, the district told News 12.
