As part of the project, children and adults will be encouraged to celebrate King's legacy and color a hand to match their unique skin tone. Then library staff will put them all together in a heart "to show love for the town's diverse community," according to the library. Registration is not required for the event. It will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The library is located at 100 Thompson St., Port Jefferson.
