Mayor Garant in the July 31, 2013 Port Jefferson Patch stated that she and the Trustees were trying to assist the surrounding businesses in Traders Cove with garbage issues costing them money. She was looking into creating a "garbage district". Now that the residents are at wits end with the resident garbage issues, there is no help to be found. Could it have been then, the fact that the mayor owns the building in Traders Cove, the Nantucket is in now, and her building has been a restaurant for more than 25 years. The only players in the "resident garbage dillema" with any clout would be the Elected Village officials who hold the permits of the carters.
