Neighbor News

Speak for your self.

Get the facts straight.

The Newsday article regarding the persons running for election highlighted Trustee D'Abramos' comment that the apartments being constructed in Port Jefferson would help the loss of LIPA revenues when there taxes were reduced. This is an absurd statement as the Brookhaven IDA has blessed these builders with no taxes for as much as 15 years. The new runner for a Trustee spot , Snaden, according to Newsday, agrees with D'Abramo. If the giveaway, no taxes, is incorrect, many news papers and the administration of Port Jefferson has been fooling us for a long time. Furthemore, why does Fred Braun III, Chairman of the Brookhaven IDA, approve all apartment complexes being built in Port Jefferson Village, thus leaving the taxpayers with an additional burden for the cost of schools, services and a major influx of traffic which affects more than 7500 residents of Port Jefferson Village? I also wonder why the others in the present Village administration are not more vocal regarding the tax givaways by the IDA.
