Teen Hit by Car in Suffolk County Seriously Injured

The 18-year-old was in the roadway when he was struck early Thursday morning, police say.

MOUNT SINAI, NY - An 18-year-old man from Port Jefferson Station was seriously injured when he was struck by a car in Mount Sinai early Thursday morning, police said.

According to Suffolk Police, a 48-year-old Miller Place woman was driving a 2010 Honda eastbound on Route 25A, west of Westgate Drive, when her vehicle hit Daniel Colasanto, who was in the roadway at about 1 a.m.

Colasanto was transported via Port Jefferson Ambulance to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson for serious injuries.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Sixth Squad detectives as 631-854-8652.
